SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department is giving an update on two officers shot in the line of duty on Thursday night.

In a Monday release, SAPD says one of the officers is now out of the hospital, but the other one remains while recovering from his injuries.

Officers Nicolas Swain and Santiago Vizcarro were called to a home on the Northeast Side on report of a domestic dispute. While waiting for backup, investigators say Jesus Prado, 40, shot at the two officers from a second-story window after running inside the home.

Additional officers were called in after police say Prado was dousing the home with gasoline while holding a torch. When backup arrived, Swain and Vizcarro were pulled to safety by other officers and then rushed to the hospital.

SAPD says Prado later surrendered, and he is now facing two charges of Attempted Capital Murder – Police Officer & Deadly Conduct.

Officer Swain has more than a year and a half with the department while Officer Vizcarro now has 7 years of service.
