SAPD releases video of fatal officer involved shooting on the northwest side
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department is releasing video footage of a fatal shooting that happened on September 18, 2022.
The video shows two officers pulling up to a suspect wanted in connection to numerous robberies.
A release from SAPD says 29-year-old Alejandro Vitela had multiple warrants, and they say they got a tip that he was riding a bicycle in the 3200 block of West Martin Street.
Video footage shows one officer engaging Vitela, who refused to give identification. When the officer tried to detain Vitela, he resisted before threatening to shoot the officer with a gun he said he had on him.
After a brief scuffle, shots are heard in the video. Investigators say Vitela was hit multiple times and died at the scene.
