SAPD: Woman arrested for trying to kidnap a four-year-old at Walmart
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department is reporting an arrest after a woman tried to kidnap a four-year-old child at Walmart.
Officers went to the location on Potranco Road and they were told 35-year-old Jessica Vega walked up to a shopping cart that the child was sitting in. With the child’s mother nearby, investigators say Vega then started pushing the cart away. The mother’s other daughter was holding on to the cart, but police say Vega pushed it out of her hands.
The mother got involved before a Walmart employee also intervened, but investigators say Vega told the mother, “just because she’s yours doesn’t mean I can’t take her.”
Vega was later arrested and taken to the Bexar County jail. She’s facing a felony charge of attempted kidnapping.
