SAWS reports broken sewer main on San Antonio’s South Side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Some South Side residents are being affected by a broken sewer main.

San Antonio Water System says a 30-inch sewer main broke late Wednesday afternoon.

FOX 29 reports it’s located near the intersection of Mission Road and Acequia.

SAWS says less than 100,000 gallons of domestic wastewater leaked into the area, some of it may have gotten into the San Antonio River.

The cleanup effort is underway and while SAWS hasn’t issued a boil order for the area, they’re advising residents to avoid swimming in nearby ponds and streams, and to wash your hands thoroughly.

They’re also advising private well owners to get their wells inspected.
