SCUC high school student found on campus with handgun

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD announced a high school student was discovered with a handgun.

According to a social media post from the district, a Byron P. Steele High School student showed another student the gun in a restroom, after which a staff member was alerted. Two students reportedly told a staff member at the school about the firearm.

The campus was “put into a hold in place” until the student with the firearm was found, the district said. When the student was found, the handgun was reportedly found to be unloaded with the trigger lock in place.

District officials said the student never threatened the school, staff or other students.

The unidentified student was taken into custody by the Cibolo Police Department.
