WASHINGTON (AP) – Has Congress been shamed into action by Jon Stewart’s criticism of a lack of movement on a compensation fund for 9/11 first responders? One of the recovery workers suggests it has. John Feal was among those who met yesterday with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell – and he says the Kentucky Republican now has “a sense of urgency” about getting the measure passed. Earlier this month, Stewart lambasted lawmakers for failing to act on a bill to ensure that the fund would never run out of money. And yesterday, McConnell committed to a measure that would do just that.
