Sheriff Javier Salazar says the pair were involved in an attempted robbery and an attempted carjacking before stealing a car from a bay at an oil change shop on FM 78 Monday morning.  He says it wasn’t hard to spot the car that was spilling oil because workers had not put the drainage plug back on before the vehicle was stolen. The chase ended when the drive crashed into a patrol car on Walzem Road at IH 35.  The suspect bailed out and ran into a ditch behind Las Palapas restaurant where one of them got into a scuffle with a deputy and tried to take away his gun.

Roman is charged with assault causing bodily injury, resisting arrest, attempting to take weapon from a peace officer, evading arrest and theft of a vehicle.  Wood is charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon and evading arrest.
