Shooting Leads to Standoff

An early Tuesday Morning Eastside shooting leads to a standoff–and ends with a shot fired.

It all happened in the area of East Houston and Gevers–where a man was shot and killed at around 5 AM. San Antonio Police were quickly on to a suspect in a nearby apartment after getting a tip.

“Before we had even made contact, at some point he had tried to barricade himself in there by putting some physical barriers in front of the door–and that made entry tough” said San Antonio Police Sergeant Jesse Salame.

Also inside that apartment was a dog.

“That dog has to be put down. We tried to do everything we could–we had Animal Control out here… we were just unable to do anything about that” Salame said.
