Shootout in Laredo Leaves Suspect Dead, Three Officers Hurt

A suspected murderer is dead and three police officers hurt following a shootout in Laredo.

Laredo police said officers had spent the day Friday searching for 55-year old Antonio Rodriguez. He was wanted in the fatal shooting of his 50-year old girlfriend Reyna Zamora.

Officers spotted Rodriguez in a convenience store parking lot late Friday Afternoon. As they approached, he opened fire, drawing return fire from police.

Rodrguez died at a hospital in Laredo.

One of the injured officers was listed in critical but stable condition at University Hospital in San Antonio. The others were in serious but stable condition at Laredo Medical Center.
