North Korea’s troops are reportedly training with Russian forces. Should America prepare to act if they invade Ukraine?

Rep. Mike Turner, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, thinks so. He’s calling for “direct military action” if North Korean soldiers cross into Ukraine. This comes right after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed that around 3,000 North Korean troops are currently at Russian military bases, gearing up for potential deployment.

He insists the Biden administration must send a clear message: North Korean troops entering Ukraine is a red line for the United States. He’s also critical of the restrictions on Ukraine’s use of American weapons against targets inside Russia. Are we really going to tie one hand behind Ukraine’s back while the stakes are this high?

What happens if North Korea joins the fight? How should America respond? Lars’ interviewed George Beebe, the former CIA director of Russia analysis and current Director of Grand Strategy at the Quincy Institute to hear his perspective on this issue.
