Six people dead, three injured in south Texas head-on crash

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Police are investigating a head on crash in Mathis that claimed the lives of six people including two San Antonio residents.

At around 3:30 A.M. Saturday, a vehicle carrying four men was southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 37 near Mathis, when it collided with a northbound vehicle.

All four men in the southbound vehicle died. They were all from the community of Alice.

A male and female, noth said to be in there teens in the northbound vehicle have died of injuries suffered in the crash. They were both from San Antonio.

Four other people who were in the vehicle with them were sent to a hospital in Corpus Christi.

Police are still trying to determine why the men from Alice were in the wrong lane.
