Sneaker Sale Goes Wrong

One man is behind bars after a sneaker sale went terribly wrong.

Three men showed up at a West Side home on Morales Street around 2 this morning to buy a pair of sneakers advertised on a social media site, but Officer Douglas Greene says they demanded the shoes at gunpoint and shots were fired as the trio fled.

Officers tracked down the suspects at a Southside home on Gladstone where they allegedly found drugs and weapons, including the gun used to fire shots outside the home on Morales. One of the men was arrested at that home on Gladstone.

“He’s identified as Josh Moreno and we have information that he was the one who brandished a weapon, fired the shots and demanded the property from the victim,” said Greene.

The investigation continues and charges could be filed against the other two men who were with Moreno.

Greene has some advice for those who sell property on social media sites. First of all, 2 a.m. is not a good time to be meeting someone for a transaction.

“Go to a local police substation or another public place that’s safe,” said Greene.
