South Texas Blood and Tissue opens donor center in Bulverde.

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A new donor center means residents in one of the fastest growing communities in Texas will no longer have to travel to donate blood.

South Texas Blood and Tissue is opening a donor center in Bulverde.

Since the start of COVID-19, the need for blood has increased by 15% while the number of donations has dropped.

That means life saving blood for accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients and those undergoing cancer treatments are sometimes waiting even longer for treatment due to a lack of blood supply.

By opening the new center in Bulverde, residents will have the opportunity to donate more often.

The location for the new donor center is 20630 Highway 46 West, Suite 115 in Bulverde.

They’ll open their doors for donors this Tuesday, June 28 at 11:30 A.M.
