SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Splashtown could soon go from featuring water rides to featuring the newest Ford rides.

KSAT-TV reports the San Antonio City Council approved a zoning change Thursday to allow a car dealership to be built on the property.

Bobby Cavender of Cavender Auto Group told the council the owner of Splashtown has decided to retire and the Cavender family would like to buy the property to build a Ford dealership on the property.

Cavender said this deal would lead to more jobs on the Eastside, primarily going to graduates of St. Philip’s College and other technical schools in the San Antonio area.

A water park has operated on the property along Interstate 35 near Fort Sam Houston for more than 35 years.
