Spurs coach Popovich urges voters to “get this country straight”
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Early voting continues through Friday in the March 3 Texas Primary, and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is urging you to get out and vote.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg posted a video on twitter with Popovich asking you to cast your ballot in the Texas Primary. Popovich jokes that the mayor just grabbed somebody off the street and pulled him by the tie to do the video, but he went on to say it was something he wanted to do –remind everybody to cast their ballots.
“We all gotta get out and vote. It’s what has to be done to get this country straight,” Popovich says in the video.
Early voting continues through Friday, and the election is Tuesday. For those who are new to Texas, in the primary election, you must choose either a Democratic or Republican ballot. You can’t vote for candidates in both parties in the Texas primary.
Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen says some people get offended when they’re asked if they want a Democratic or Republican ballot, but that’s the way it is in the Texas primary.
The Democratic Ballot has more than 100 contested races and 11 propositions. Republicans have more than 25 races and 10 propositions.
You can take a look at both ballots and get early voting locations and hours of operation on the Bexar County Elections website.
When Coach says “VOTE,” you VOTE! Early voting is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today through February 28th. Election day is Tuesday, March 3rd. #satx
