State Senator Fears Deep Cuts for Special Ed

Some budget cuts could create some real problems for the state’s most vulnerable citizens.

El Paso State Senator Jose Rodriguez says services like speech, occupational and physical therapy would be severely disrupted if the reimbursement rate cuts are approved, impacting children in need all over the state.

“The overall impact the proposed rates will have on the ability on providers to deliver therapy services are still quite significant. Some therapy rates will be reduced up to 26 percent.”

The Senator says he has written to the Health and Human Services Commission to express his concerns.
