Study: Texas cities rank among the best in the nation for drivers

SAN ANTONIO – (KTSA News) — A new study shows that several Texas cities have some of the best driving conditions in the United States.

WalletHub analyzed the the top 100 most populated cities in the nation, and then compiled a list of the best and worst metropolitan areas for divers. The metrics studied included the cost of vehicle ownership and maintenance, traffic volume and infrastructure, and driver safety.

San Antonio landed at 27 on the list, but Texas scored several cities in the top 10, including Plano, Corpus Christi, Arlington, and Garland. In the top 20 were Austin, El Paso, Laredo, Irving and Lubbock.

Dallas fell in at 44 and Houston followed at 69.

Ranking near the bottom of the list were some usual suspects, like Los Angeles, Baltimore, Washington, DC, New York, Chicago, Detroit and Philadelphia.

The study also found that drivers spend an average of 360 hours per year behind the wheel, which is equal to 15 days.
