Study: Texas one of the safest states for workers in US

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Job growth in Texas is well documented as we get deeper into 2023, and new data shows what might be considered the opposite in a related category.

A new study by High Rise Financial shows Texas has one of the lowest rates of workplace accidents in the nation with 2.1 out of every 100 workers getting injured on the job. Researchers with the company used current data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to illustrate the rate of non-fatal injuries and illnesses across all 50 states.

On average, 2.8 workers out of every 100 in the U.S are injured every year, which means the Texas rate of 2.1 is 25% lower than the yearly average.

Virgin Islands placed second in the rankings, with an accident rate of 1.3, while Washington, DC topped the study with the lowest rate of 1 out of every 100 workers.

Virginia also ranks alongside Texas, with a rate of 2.1. The top ten is rounded out by Delaware, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and South Carolina, all coming out with a total of 2.2 out of 100 recorded cases per as many workers.
