Styx classic gets an orchestral update with the help of young musicians

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A rock and roll classic from the 70’s is getting an update.

Tommy Shaw from the band Styx has released a video of him performing the 1977 song “Fooling Yourself”. It’s on their “Grand Illusion” album.

He’s got 88 new band mates in this new recording. They are members of the Cleveland Contemporary Youth Orchestra.

They managed to create some amazing music while staying socially distant, all of the members recorded their parts on their cellphones and they appear in a split screen while Shaw performs from his home in Nashville.

Shaw released a statement that he was “blown away” while making the video.

He also mentions that all of the orchestra members are under the age of 18.

Probably not much older than their parents were when the song was first released 43 years ago.
