SUV crashes through San Antonio home where elderly woman was sleeping

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A driver speeding in an SUV left a path of destruction in a West Side neighborhood around 11:30 Sunday night.

Residents on South San Joaquin near West Commerce told KTSA News the driver was speeding when the SUV veered out of control, knocked down a utility pole, plowed down a fence, and crashed through the living room of the two-story home next door.  An elderly woman sleeping downstairs was covered with debris when her son came downstairs.

The woman and the driver of the SUV were  transported to a hospital.

CPS Energy crews replaced the utility pole and turned off electricity to a couple of homes that had power lines strewn across their yards. Another crew returned around 8 a.m. Monday to work to complete the repairs.

Three homes were affected by the accident.
