Taco seasoning sold at HEB and Walmart being recalled
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Some taco seasoning packages sold at HEB and Walmart are being recalled because they could contain salmonella.
Williams Foods LLC is voluntarily recalling one-ounce packages of Great Value Mild Taco Seasoning Mix sold at Walmart with “best by” dates of 7/8/21 and 7/9/21, and 1.25-ounce packages of HEB Taco Seasoning Mix Less Sodium with “best by” dates of 7/10/21, 7/11/21, and 7/15/21.
The items contain cumin spice involved in a recall by the company’s supplier, Mincing Spice Company. A sample tested by one of Mincing’s customers was found to be potentially contaminated with Salmonella.
Healthy people infected with Salmonella will experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and people with weakened immune systems.
There have been no consumer complaints or reported cases of Salmonellosis in connection with these products.
