SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A couple of teens — one armed with a gun and another with an outstanding arrest warrant — were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with car burglaries in Shavano Park.

Shavano Park police said a patrol officer noticed a parked car with its door open at around 3 a.m. in the Shavano Creek neighborhood off of Huebner and Lockhill-Selma.  They contacted the homeowner, who realized the unlocked car may have been burglarized.

Officers were able to find a suspicious vehicle, but the car got away from police.  While looking in the area the car had been, police found two juveniles trying to hide in the brush.

Both of the juveniles had items that belonged to a homeowner in the area.  One of the teens had a gun while the other had an outstanding arrest warrant.

They were arrested and booked into the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center.

The suspicious vehicle was later found at an apartment complex on Huebner near Northwest Military Highway.  The car was impounded and will be searched when a search warrant is approved.

Additional charges are pending.

Shavano Park police believe these teens are also the suspects in earlier car burglaries.  They did note that all of the vehicles affected had been unlocked when they were burglarized.
