Texas DPS: Trooper finds 2 illegal immigrants hiding in truck gas tank
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man from Laredo is behind bars after a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper found two illegal immigrants hiding in the truck he was driving.
DPS Lt. Chris Oliverez posted on X that the stop was made Friday on I-35 in Webb County.
The trooper stopped the truck and during an inspection, he noticed one of the gas tanks didn’t look right.
That’s when he found the two immigrants stashed inside the tank.
The driver, identified as Rico Gonzalo has been charged with two counts of human smuggling.
The two Mexican immigrants have been turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
