Texas pledges nearly one billion dollars for border security

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Texas is doing what the Feds won’t.

That’s according to Governor Greg Abbott who posted a video on Twitter to say the state is putting up nearly a billion dollars to help secure the border.

Abbott says the money will be used to fund the National Guard and the Department of Public Safety.

He adds more boats and planes will be used to detect and deter cartels that try to smuggle people into Texas.

He says the crisis at the border won’t end until Congress passes meaningful immigration reform laws.
