SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A police chase in Converse lands a man a jail.

Converse police say they were contacted by someone at around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday who said their car had been burglarized that morning and they had seen their stolen goods being listed for sale online.

That person made arrangements to buy those items back from the thief.  The seller — believed to be the thief — told the victim he would be arriving in a black Nissan Murano.

Police were able to spot this vehicle and saw it pull up next to the victim’s vehicle on Schaefer Road.  A woman got out of the Murano.

Converse police pulled up to the location and the suspect driver left the area, leaving the woman behind.

Police chased the SUV south on FM 1516.  The suspect tried making a right turn onto a neighborhood street not far from the meetup location, but lost control and crashed into a utility pole.

The man was able to get out and run away, but police were able to arrest him in the backyard of a home not far from the crash scene.

Police say there were able to give the stolen goods back to the victim.

The man has been identified as 29-year-old De Maine Rose.  He has been charged with theft and evading arrest.
