SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Two men are in custody and a third suspect is on the run after police say they opened fire at two plain clothes San Antonio police officers.

SAPD reports the two in custody are 26-year-old Alton Green and 28-year-old Deandre Ross, and both are being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators are on the lookout for the third suspect.

It all started Monday night when the undercover officers with the Texas Anti-Gang Taskforce spotted what they thought was a suspicious vehicle in the area of Gevers St. and Dawson St. around 7 p.m.

KSAT-12 reports the the officers saw the suspects in the car shooting at a building, and they later fired at the undercover officers once they were spotted.

Police say the unmarked police car was hit, but the officers were not. There was no return fire from police.

SAPD says Green and Ross were soon arrested after a perimeter was set up, and investigators say two rifles were recovered.

The investigation continues and more information will be passed along when possible.
