Tobin Garage Construction Begins

They’re set to break ground on a new parking garage at the Tobin Center Monday morning.

It’s a project about seven years in the making.

“This was a piece of the Tobin Center that was identified very early on as a concern for patrons, that they needed a place to park in order to come down to San Antonio, come down to the city to go to shows,” President and CEO Mike Fresher told KTSA News.

It’s needed, he said, because parking is an issue near the Center.

“We have been really handcuffed on what kinds of things we could do during the day,” he said. “With this new parking garage, it will open up and expand what kind of events we can do in the building and also get more community groups in the building during the week.”

When it’s done, there will be 521 parking paces in that garage. They hope to open it in September.
