Traffic Alert: Major Accident in East Bexar County closes portion of Loop 1604

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Five people have been sent to area hospitals after an early morning crash in East Bexar County.
We’re told a red car blew through a stop sign at 1604 and Schuwirth Road at around 6 A.M.
The female driver plowed into a VIA bus, demolishing her vehicle and sending the bus into a nearby cornfield. The bus rolled over as it slid into the field. No passengers were on board. A third vehicle was also involved in the wreck.
KTSA’s Elizabeth Ruiz has been told that two children, ages 4 and 6 years old have been sent to an area hospital.
Of the five who were injured, one person is in critical condition.
The crash forced the section of Loop 1604 between I-10 and FM1346 to be be closed down. The closure will last several hours while an investigation takes place and the vehicles are removed from the scene.

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A section of Loop 1604 is closed this morning as emergency crews clear the scene of a major crash.
The crash took place at around 6 A.M in the southbound lane of 1604 between I-10 and FM1346.
At this time, we know that several vehicles are involved, including a VIA bus. Several emergency vehicles are on the scene and crews are working to investigate the crash then get traffic flowing again.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Five people, including two minors had to be transported to area hospitals and no passengers were on the VIA bus.
In the meantime, it’s recommended you use 410 or FM1518 to get around the wreck.
