SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Streets around the Alamodome were packed as more than a thousand families drove up for Tuesday’s giveaway by the San Antonio Food Bank. It’s just one of the many events the nonprofit is organizing to help people in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
President and CEO Eric Cooper says the first people showed up at midnight for the food giveaway that started at 10 a.m.
“That just shows how much they need this food,” said Cooper.
About 1,200 families preregistered for Tuesday’s giveaway. Another event is scheduled Friday, but you can’t just show up and get in line. Cooper says you must register online at the San Antonio Food Bank website or call 210-431-8326.
They also need volunteers.
