TREY’s Take: The Monday Morning Rundown – Hot Mayor’s Race Ends With A New Mayor

Hot Weather – Even Hotter Political Race

Coming off a very hot Texas weekend, and a very hotly contested mayor and council race in San Antonio.

Congratulations to Mayor-elect Ron Nirenberg. The District 8 councilman defeated current Mayor Ivy Taylor by a wide margin. He and the six new council members will be sworn in on June 21st.

Nirenberg said, “I think the voters have made some clear choices about the direction that they want to take the city.”

For her part, Mayor Taylor said, “I am at peace,” as she danced with her daughter and supporters.

Former Mayor and HUD secretary Julian Castro was an active supporter of Nirenberg, and said the results show San Antonio is not a conservative city, rather it is “progressive,” and indicated the city would lurch farther to the left under the new Mayor and council.

Best of luck to the new Mayor and council members as they begin their work June 22nd.

The Investigations Continue in D.C.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions wants to clear the air about his recusal in the Trump Russia probe. Questions were raised by the testimony of former FBI head James Comey during his testimony last week. The AG is set to testify before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence tomorrow. They aren’t clear whether it will be open or closed.

First Lady Moves

First Lady Melania Trump and her 11 year-old son, Barron have finally made the move to D.C. from New York. They were waiting for Barron to finish school. He will start in a new school in Maryland this fall.

Feinstein Wants a Probe

Senator Dianne Feinstein appeared to call for an investigation into former AG Loretta Lynch concerning the Hillary Clinton email scandal. Apparently Feinstein wants to know more about Lynch’s private airplane meeting with former President Bill Clinton.

RIP Batman

The original Batman with Adam West was the best ever. I never missed an episode, and even had a costume handmade by my grandmother. I dressed in the costume for every episode.

West passed away Saturday at age 88.

Mr. West was an accomplished actor, but was never able to break out of the typecast of being Batman.
