SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A truck carrying 40,000 pounds of avocados rolled over on I-10 near Seguin this morning.

At around 12:30 A.M. the truck was heading east near Linne Road when it drifted toward the center median. But the driver over corrected, sending the truck onto it’s side. That’s when an oncoming tanker truck collided with the overturned rig, scattering the avocados across the highway.

The driver of the tanker wasn’t hurt but the driver of the truck hauling avocados and a passenger were treated at a nearby hospital.

The crash and the spilled cargo took some time to clean up, forcing the eastbound lane of the highway to be closed for roughly 13 hours.

“It is definitely a first,” Cibolo police officer Matthew Schima told KTSA News.  “And let me tell you, they are everywhere.”

Additional reporting by KTSA’s Dennis Foley.
