Two men arrested, charged with trying to buy guns with stolen credit cards

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Two men accused of trying to buy guns with stolen credit cards in San Antonio are facing charges.

David Melendez and Ramon Garcia were apprehended Thursday after a week-long investigation focused on reports of credit card abuse and fraudulent identification while purchasing guns.

San Antonio police say one person had reached out saying her credit card had been stolen and then used to buy guns at a local gun shop.

Melendez and Garcia had arranged to to pick up firearms they bought on the day of the arrest, but store ownership would not let them leave with the guns. KSAT-TV reports detectives arrested both as they tried to leave the store.

Police did not specify what type of guns the two were trying to buy.

Both are charged with fraudulent use of identification, but Garcia is also charged with unlawful carry of a weapon.
