Two teens arrested in connection with shooting at JBSA-Lackland
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA New) — An investigation involving several agencies has resulted in two teenagers placed under arrest for shooting at guards stationed at Joint Base San Antonio Lackland.
The shootings happened early in the morning of August 17.
Guards at Lackland returned fire against the shooters who were attempting to gain entry through the main gate.
A few hours later, shots were fired at the guards again from a vehicle parked near the gate.
SAPD, BCSO, DPS, FBI and ATF began investigating the shootings and announced Wednesday that two people, 18-year-old Ricardo Samaniego and 19-year-old Joseph Jimenez had been arrested.
Officers were able to place the pair at the scene when an investigation into an accidental shooting determined the same weapon had been used in the Lackland shootings.
They’ve both been charged with deadly conduct with a firearm.
No guards were hurt in the shootings and police say the shooters have no military affiliation.
