SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The University of the Incarnate Word community is coming together to pray for the victims of this weekend’s shootings.

A statement from UIW reads: “We will come together in prayer, Monday, at the noon hour in Our Lady’s Chapel. We will also work together to find new ways to deal with the daily threat of gun violence in our society in the weeks and months to come. ”

The statement goes on to state that it is their “moral responsibility to change the political dialogue in our country. Since according to our stated purpose “we are educating men and women to be concerned and enlightened citizens,” we must commit ourselves to concrete actions that defend human dignity, stop bigotry and promote justice and peace for all.”

The service and call to action in Honor of Victims in El Paso and Dayton, Ohio will begin at noon at Our Lady’s Chapel located at 4503 Broadway.
