VIA says masks now optional for employees and customers

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Masks are now optional for VIA Metropolitan Transit customers and employees.

The company announced the decision this morning after a federal judge in Florida overturned the CDC’s mask mandate for planes and other public transportation.

In a statement, VIA says that while masks are no longer a requirement, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to recommend masks as a way to prevent the spread of COVID-19, especially in areas where social distancing is not possible.

VIA encourages customers and employees to make decisions that are in their best interests.
