SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Water officials in the New Braunfels area are working to address a spill gate failure at the Lake Dunlap Dam.

The failure happened just after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Video from the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority — which owns and maintains the dam — shows the breach happening.

The City of Cibolo says lake levels at Lake Dunlap have dropped from 45 feet to about 22 feet and have since leveled off.  The city says the failure will not be affecting the area’s water supply.

The Canyon Regional Water Authority — which supplies the drinking water to parts of Guadalupe, Comal, Bexar, Atascosa, Wilson, Hays and Caldwell counties — draws water from the lake and continues to supply water to the areas it services.

The GRBA will be evaluating solutions to fix the dam.
