SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – If you can’t afford to get out of town for the long holiday weekend, you can take a tour of San Antonio’s major tourist attractions without having to worry about filling up the gas tank or using your Google map.

VIA’s three VIVA routes travel through the heart of downtown San Antonio, connecting major cultural, historic and entertainment destinations. Those colorful VIVA buses have three routes. VIVA Culture connects you with museums, parks, theaters, art galleries and the San Antonio Zoo. VIVA Missions goes to the Alamo and historic San Antonio Missions World Heritage Site, and VIVA Centro travels through the heart of downtown from Centro Plaza to Sunset Station.

VIA’s VIVA is celebrating a major milestone.

“Three years, three routes and one million passenger trips, ” said VIA President and CEO Jeffrey Arndt.

He says the most popular is the VIVA Culture route, with daily service from Blue Star to the Pearl until 11 pm.

“It starts at Blue Star and comes into downtown. It stops in front of the Alamo where all three stop so that you can converge,” said Arndt.

A VIA day pass will cost you $2.75 for unlimited rides on the day of activation.
