SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — After the tragic mass shooting in one of their El Paso stores, Walmart is stepping up to offer assistance to people who were impacted by the tragedy.

The Arkansas based retailer is committing $400,000 to support victims of last Saturday’s shooting.

The direct cash grants are going to local community foundations that have support funds set up for those affected.

“Our hearts ache for El Pasoans,” said Greg Foran, president and chief executive officer, Walmart U.S. “As we work on helping our associates through this tragedy, we also want to help ensure the community has the resources it needs by providing funds to support the important work the El Paso Community Foundation and the Paso del Norte Community Foundation are doing during this difficult time. We want to support the people of El Paso every step of the way.”

The Walmart associates impacted by the shooting are also getting support through the Resources for Living program. A plan the retailer has for employees going through challenging times.
