SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A woman who survived a dog attack that claimed the life of her husband is suing the dog’s owners.

Juanita Najera’s lawsuit was filed Thursday.

The February 24 attack on Depla Street made national headlines after the dogs pounced on Najera and her 81 year old husband Ramon. The dogs also turned on emergency crews who responded to the attack.

Ramon Najera died later that day after suffering a heart attack.

Named in the lawsuit are Christian Alexander Moreno and Abilene Schnieder Moreno. They were the dog’s owners who are currently being held at the Bexar County Jail. The three dogs have all been euthanized.

Najera is also suing the landlord who owns the home the Moreno’s live in.

She’s seeking $1 million in damages for wrongful death as well as survival damages.
