Wrong-way driver arrested for suspicion of DWI after crashing into 18 wheeler on San Antonio’s Southwest Side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man is in custody for suspicion of DWI following a head-on crash on IH-35 Monday morning.

San Antonio Police say at around 2:30 A.M. Monday, a man in his 30’s was driving in the wrong direction on 35 South near Fischer Road. He nearly hit three vehicles before slamming head-on into an 18 wheeler.

The wrong-way driver wasn’t hurt, but he was taken into custody after EMS evaluated him at the scene.

The crash caused the highway to be closed down for a few hours while police investigated and crews cleared the scene.

The wrong-way driver’s name hasn’t been released.
