You’re Only Surprised If You’ve Not Paid Attention

I cannot believe how anyone cannot believe that the FBI has waved off charges for Sen. Clinton, regarding her “careless” handling of State Department email on her spare bedroom server.

Where. Have. You. Been?

Didn’t she tell us she was “100 percent certain” the specter of charges would not hang over her fall campaign?

Didn’t she dismiss the proceedings as a “security review”, as if she had an overdue library book?

Didn’t you notice President Obama endorsing her? I won’t even mention the Phoenix airport Bill & Loretta show, because if you needed that as a clue, your lips must move when you read.

The word today from FBI Director James Comey is the least surprising announcement in modern American political history.

Right away, Donald Trump repeated his rhetorical question about how come General David Petraeus got in more trouble than Hillary Clinton? What’s the difference between the “gross negligence” of this statute and her “extreme carelessness”:

Whoever, being entrusted with or having lawful possession or control of any document. . .relating to the national defense, (1) through gross negligence permits the same to be removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of his trust, or to be lost, stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, or (2) having knowledge that the same has been illegally removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of its trust, or lost, or stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, and fails to make prompt report of such loss, theft, abstraction, or destruction to his superior officer, Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.

If even Director Comey, with a strong reputation for integrity, can’t or won’t see this, then it’s fixed and it was all along.

Unfortunately, you don’t solve this with just an election. Not with merely another Democrat, or a Republican.

But, electoral defeat is the only punishment left. We will see.
