SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — That little ol’ band from Texas is back on the road this summer and they’ll wrap up their tour in their home state.
ZZ Top kicks off the Raw Whisky Tour Wednesday night in Nebraska.
They’ll cross the country with their distinct Texas boogie sound before wrapping up with three nights in the Lone Star State.
September 23 at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin
September 24 at the Dos Equis Pavillion in Dallas
September 25 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in their hometown of Houston
ZZ Top will bring some friends with them for their Texas stops. Guitar legend Jeff Beck and Ann Wilson, lead singer for the band Heart.
ZZ Top was formed in Houston in 1969 by Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard.
Before gaining nationwide fame, they played small clubs and dance halls across Texas.
Their debut titled “ZZ Top’s First Album” was recorded at a small studio in Tyler, Texas and released in 1971.
They have released 15 studio albums, four live albums and several greatest hits compilations. Their next album titled “Raw” features 10 tracks recorded live at Gruene Hall for the Netfilx documentary “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas”.
The band consisted of the three original members until bassist Hill died in July of 2021.
Since then, guitar tech Ellwood Francis has played bass for the band.
