NEW YORK (AP) – The addition of former White House press secretary Sean Spicer to “Dancing with the Stars” is not sitting well with host Tom Bergeron.

Bergeron tweets he had asked producers he hoped the new season would be a “joyful respite from our exhausting political climate.” He urged them not have any “divisive bookings.”

Bergeron writes, “We can agree to disagree, as we do now, but ultimately it’s their call.”

The next season’s contestants include Christie Brinkley, Hannah Brown of “The Bachelorette,” James Van Der Beek, Kel Mitchell and athletes Lamar Odom and Ray Lewis.

The season begins Sept. 16 on ABC.
