Police identify 18-wheeler driver killed after rolling off downtown San Antonio highway
UPDATE: SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A man killed when his 18-wheeler rolled off a downtown highway Thursday has been identified as 62-year-old Jose Marquez Aguillon.
Police say he was westbound on the upper level of IH 10 near North Frio Thursday morning when he lost control of the big rig and started sliding backwards on the highway. The 1997 Peterbilt slid across the main lanes of the highway towards the right side of the roadway and clipped a Honda Accord before striking the concrete retaining wall. The 18-wheeler rolled over the retaining wall and fell, landing under the overpass near West Cypress and Camaron. The driver of the Honda was not hurt.

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – An eighteen-wheeler has fallen off a highway in the downtown area. Just before 7 this morning, the big rig was involved in an accident on Westbound IH 10 near Frio Street on what’s known as the Finesilver curve before plunging off the highway.
“The driver might have lost control before striking another vehicle and then possibly hydroplaning and flipping off the ramp,” said San Antonio police officer Alisia Pruneda.
The truck landed upside down under the overpass near Cameron and West Cypress and the driver was pronounced dead on the scene. Chunks of concrete were missing from the barrier on the right side of the expressway.
The driver of the other car involved in the accident was not injured.
