Innocent bystander one of two killed in shootout on San Antonio’s North side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Two people are dead following a shootout at a gas station on San Antonio’s North side.

It was around 2:30 P.M. Monday when officers were called to the intersection of West Mariposa and Blanco Road.

Witnesses say a green colored Suburban was circling the gas station before stopping.

Someone started walking toward the Suburban and as he approached the passenger side door, someone got out of the back of the vehicle and began exchanging gunfire with the man.

Customers and employees in the gas station hit the floor as bullets were exchanged outside.

In the end, the person who emerged from the Suburban was killed as was a nearby resident.

Police say he was a man in his 60’s who was sitting in his living room, watching TV when he was shot.

One of the other people in the Suburban was injured and brought to the hospital.

Three others in the vehicle have been detained. Police say they are all in their late teens and early 20’s.

The man who approached the Suburban ran from the scene and hasn’t been located.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus says it appears the shooting began as some type of deal was about to take place.

The investigation continues.
