Park police arrest man smoking pot, carrying gun on the River Walk

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) -Park police have arrested a man they say was smoking pot on the River Walk around 7 Friday morning.   The suspect ran when officer L. Rosales confronted him.

Officers say the man appeared to be reaching for a gun as he fled, and he was later apprehended on East Commerce near Bowie.  He told officers he threw the handgun as he was running.   The weapon was recovered and the man is facing charges of evading arrest, possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
