Water main break at The Rim Shopping Center Sunday afternoon floods parking lot, forces some businesses to close early

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Some businesses at a San Antonio shopping center had to close earlier than planned Sunday due to a broken water main.

The break at The Rim flooded the parking lot, forcing Santikos Palladium to cancel some early evening shows The movie theater was able to reopen for showings after 8 P.M. Popcorn and other snacks were available but the bar and restaurant remained closed for the night.

Those planning to celebrate Father’s Day at Brasão Brazilian Steakhouse had to change their plans as the restaurant had to close. Customers were alerted of the closure on the restaurant’s social media.

The entire Rim Shopping Center was without water until SAWS crews could make some repairs. As the sun went down, most of the area had service restored, but a few will have to wait until sometime Monday morning to have water flowing once again.

Updates on the repairs will be sent out by SAWS throughout the morning.

SAWS is warning customers that the excessive heat we are experiencing will likely cause more water main breaks.

Water main breaks can be reported by calling 210-704-7297.
