By Bill O'NeilAn investigation is underway after the death of a Bexar County Jail inmate.
Officials said 65-year old Alvin Boyd County's cellmate called to guards for help after the man began to have trouble breathing Thursday Night at around 10:30.
"THe Deputy initiated medical response procedures and medical personnel and staff at the jail responded. The San Antonio Fire Department and EMS was called" said Paul Berry with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. He told 550 KTSA News County was taken to Downtown Baptist Hopsital--where he was pronounced dead just before Midnight.
"It's important to note that there's still an investigation going on as to what happened--but preliminary reports indicate there's no evidence of violence, weapons, drug use, or self harm" Berry said.
County arrived at the jail Wednesday on a felony theft charge. An autopsy will be performed--and the Medical Examiner will determine a cause of death.
