3 people injured after semi-trailer truck barrels into Circle K gas station

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department is investigating after a semi-trailer truck barreled into a Circle K gas station on the city’s northeast side this morning.

Police said a truck hauling pavement materials was exiting the highway when it lost control and slid from the access road into the gas station located at Interstate 35 and O’Connor Road around 10:30 a.m.

Officials said three people were transported to a local hospital. Police reported the driver was in serious condition and the other two people reported minor injuries, including one person who was an occupant in another vehicle that was damaged as the truck slid into it and someone who was injured inside the building.

The gas station reportedly sustained serious damage and will be closed over concerns for the structural integrity of the building, but police said there is no danger to the public. The utilities and gas have been turned off and officials report the situation is contained.

Police are investigating the cause for the accident and report there may have been mechanical failures that contributed to the truck losing control.
