SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — “I can’t be Tony Parker anymore.”

It’s how former San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker explained his decision to retire from basketball to ESPN’s The Undefeated.

Parker spent his final season with the Charlotte Hornets after spending nearly his full career with the Spurs.

He made the announcement to The Undefeated from a hotel suite in San Antonio — the place he has called home since leaving France to play in the NBA.

Parker said he feels he could physically play two more seasons, but felt it was the right time to walk away from the game.

The former player said he plans to live in San Antonio in his retirement, but will travel frequently to France where he owns a professional basketball club.
